Baby #3 is in the Oven!

Today we went to the doctor for our first appointment for baby #3. Since we don’t know if it is a boy or a girl and won’t find out, I will call it baby #3 for now. Brooke let me know, I think the same way as the first two, by showing me the pregnancy test a few weeks ago. I was certainly surprised because it usually takes about 1 year once we start “trying”.

As a hint, I started growing out my beard. If you’ll notice, I usually only do it when my wife is pregnant. No one caught on…

So, back to the appointment. We don’t exactly know how far along we are because we should be at 10 weeks but she is measuring at about 12 weeks so they’ve ordered an ultrasound. We all got to hear the baby’s heartbeat today too. Here is a link to the recording.

Also, please be praying for Brooke. She gets very sick during pregnancy and it’s pretty much 24/7 until the end. It will be more difficult than other since she has to take care of 2 boys all day.

Trip to the Farmer’s Market

We recently went to the the Des Moines Farmer’s Market with my grandparents. It was a beautiful day and there were lots of people.

Farmer's Market

Denver got a big huge cookie. He saves his money in his little bank and then we take some coins down and he gets a cookie. This was his first time getting a chocolate chip cookie and it was a mess!

Farmer's Market

This picture shows how blue the sky was.

Farmer's Market

I love this picture! We brought Denver’s wagon but he wanted to walk so he has to hold someone’s hand.

Farmer's Market

Now this is what you call street evangelism. This guy was preaching in the street! Not sure if this how I’d approach it but he’s a brave guy!

Farmer's Market

After the Farmer’s Market we walked across this sweet bridge that is downtown Des Moines.

Before we left, I had Carson in the driver’s seat. I have a picture of Denver like this too so I thought I’d grab one of Denver.

Aptera’s Typ-1

From MSNBC.com:

Mere Earthlings will likely do some serious rubbernecking when the Aptera Typ-1 three-wheeled vehicle hits the road, perhaps as early as this year. The vehicle, shown here, is officially classified as a motorcycle and looks more like something out of “The Jetsons” than Detroit. The California-built machine will come in all-electric and hybrid flavors, the latter getting more than 300 miles per gallon of gas. Top speed exceeds 85 mph, and the vehicle goes from 0 to 60 in under 10 seconds, the company says. About four hours plugged into a standard socket recharges a drained battery.

This is really funny. I was wondering how they were projecting all the way around the stadium at the Bird’s Nest at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I was guessing it was one huge computer or a network of computers working together. Well, now there’s more details. It seems they were using Windows :) Here’s some proof… pictures of the blue screen of death during the opening ceremonies.

I’m starting a new series of blogs titled “Forwards from Grandma”. I’m only going to post the ones that are true. About half don’t pass the Snopes.com test. This one does however. I will research them before I post them here.

This series of Photos is from around Iowa during the Storms and Floods of 2008. The first one is called a Tornado in the description but after researching it, most feel it’s a wall cloud. (still awesome)

I recently drove around the Saylorville Lake area and took some pictures and video of the area flooding. Tonight we are going to go and get some more shots when the dam overflows. The emergency overflow is going to start flowing and will double the output of the spillway. Here’s some pics:
